The Viennese subculture researcher and music journalist Al Bird Sputnik (aka. Universal Beatnik) is the operator of what is probably the most comprehensive sound carrier archive for Austrian pop history (Trash Rock Archives), as well as the publisher of the LP/CD series “Schnitzelbeat”, which systematically reappraises the early years of Austrian rock music. In his DJ sets, he plays rare original Austrian records from the period 1950 to 1990, exclusively from vinyl records, across all genre boundaries. From rock-n-roll to cabaret classics, from the dialect wave to disco and new wave - and back again.
