Cinema eats its children: frustrated director José’s passion for filmmaking develops into a self-destructive obsession, an intoxicatingly bizarre nightmare. The breeding ground for this personal crisis is laid by his old film colleague Pedro, who sends him a mysterious package. It contains a Super 8 film reel, a tape and a key to his apartment. Pedro too, as his chains of reflection sound, has been driven mad by filmmaking. ARREBATO, which means ecstasy, is a hypnotic art house horror, a trippy vampire film without vampires.
