In the auditorium of a theater: a moderately interesting chamber play is being performed. Just as the question dawns on us as to whether Quentin Dupieux no longer delivers what his name once promised, Yannick (ingenious: Raphael Quenard) is pulled up from his seat and his wild anger at the lousy play and ensemble breaks out. What follows is a racy and absurd eulogy about the sense and nonsense of (petty) bourgeois cultural enjoyment or the consideration of whether gun violence could create a better atmosphere in the theater. Quentin Dupieux (*\1974, Paris) discovered filmmaking at the age of 18 and bought his first synthesiser. As MR OIZO, he released the international hit single FLAT BEAT and several albums. “When you watch an audience watching my movies, you realize that nobody laughs at the same time. Some people enjoy a beat, and then another group of people are laughing at a sight gag, and then someone laughs where nobody laughs before. They‘re not timed like a comedy.
