Was treibt erwachsene Männer jenseits der Adoleszens dazu, sich monatelang in Stockbetten zu zwängen, von Fast Food zu leben, sich von Kater zu Kater zu hangeln? Anders gefragt: Warum tut man sich die Strapazen einer Tournee durch die europäische Subclubkultur an? Der Regisseur Jérôme Vandewattyne hat die Band The Experimental Tropic Blues Band auf ihrer Reise begleitet, um genau das herauszufinden. Doch anders als erwartet, wird das Geschehen auf der Leinwand immer abstruser, die Kamera verlässt ebenso wie die Protagonisten den vorgezeichneten Pfad. So wird aus einer Europatournee ein Höllentrip in die Abgründe der Beziehungsdynamiken triebgeplagter Musikanten. Der Roadmovie SPIT‘N‘SPLIT entwickelt sich zu einer waghalsigen Mockumentary, in der die Grenze zwischen Fiktion und Relität immer unwichtiger wird.
Jérôme Vandewattyne is a Belgian director born in 1989. As a true cinema and music fanatic, he creates the music band VHS FROM SPACE and begins studying Film-Making at IAD. One year later, he leaves the school for the ISFSC, taking an Audiovisual and Advertising option for which he directed a short film as his final work, SHE’S A SLUT, shown at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF). The following year, he directed the stroboscopic SLUTTERBALL, a second self-produced short film. He went on to direct two complete seasons for the teenage web series “What The Fake ?! RTBF “. Now, at 25 years old, after working alongside La Film Fabrique on the vjing of the show “The Belgians”, he climbs aboard The Experimental Tropic Blues Band’s van to follow them on tour for more than two years. This experience will give birth to his first feature, SPIT’N’SPLIT.
